About Us

Welcome to Alpha Primary School, a distinguished Roman Catholic institution that has been shaping young minds in Kingston, Jamaica since 1892. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy on the historic South Camp Road campus, our school stands as a testament to over 130 years of educational excellence and spiritual guidance. Under the dedicated leadership of Principal Mr. Okelo Francis, we continue to honor our founding principles while embracing modern educational approaches that prepare our students for success in an ever-changing world. At Alpha Primary School, we are proud of our commitment to Mercy Education, which seamlessly blends strong spiritual values with academic rigor. Our students consistently perform above national averages in PEP examinations, demonstrating the effectiveness of our comprehensive educational approach. Beyond academics, we celebrate our students' remarkable achievements in the arts and sports, particularly our gold medal performances in JCDC dance and music competitions, as well as our outstanding success in National Chess championships. Our school's impact extends far beyond our campus gates, as evidenced by our celebrated 'Wall of Fame' featuring distinguished alumni including former Prime Minister Bruce Golding. Through the Alpha Aid Association and our deep community connections, we continue to strengthen the bonds that make Alpha Primary School not just an educational institution, but a cornerstone of the Kingston community. Together, we build not only academic excellence but also character, faith, and leadership that will serve our students throughout their lives. With the guidance of Board Chair Ms. Rachel Matthews and Vice Principal Mr. Hopeton Denton, along with our dedicated academic staff led by Mrs. Kerine Raglan-Hibbert, we remain committed to providing each child with the foundation they need to reach their full potential while staying true to our cherished motto: 'Together We Build.'
